Sheer madness: the mesh footwear trend for the rest of us

If you follow celebrity news or fashion trends, you probably saw the mesh shoe trend this summer, thanks to Jennifer Lopez and Chrissy Teigen. Others might hear 'mesh shoe' and reminisce about this hot little number from yesteryear.

Our sheer sock selection takes inspiration from ornate Edwardian stockings, seen in this ad from 1903.

Regardless of your opinion of this dainty summer style, we'd like to bring the trend forward to fall and winter, and offer you:

Sheer socks.

This is not your office-appropriate knee-high. We have chosen a select few ornate, high-design socks that take their inspiration from architecture and historical fashion.

From Frank Lloyd Wright to whimsical stripes and damask, this is footwear we can get into.

We wear them with closed-toe Birks or a chunky oxford, but they would also look great paired with a fashion sneaker. Keep your ankle-cropped jeans and pants in rotation for max visibility.

These socks will see (you) through to winter

For those of us in northern latitudes, the in-between from summer to winter never lasts long enough. Before we pull out the fuzzy footwear, let's dare to bare an ankle for a few more weeks.

What do you think?

Would you try this style?
